Banggabeak Villagers Celebrate as TNI’s HABEMA Task Forces Deliver Vital Medical Aid

NDUGA - In a heartwarming display of service, the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Task Forces from the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad provided crucial medical care to the remote village of Banggabeak, nestled in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. The operation took place on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, as part of a larger security patrol near the Indonesian-Papua New Guinea border, led by the HABEMA Command.

Commander of the 503 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, stressed the importance of addressing the basic needs of local communities in areas prone to disturbances from the Free Papua Movement (OPM). With that goal in mind, the patrol team was fully equipped with medical personnel, supplies, and essential medicines, ready to offer much-needed health services to the people of Banggabeak.

Upon the arrival of the Task Forces, the villagers greeted the soldiers with joy and relief. Medical personnel immediately set to work, treating villagers for various illnesses. "Thank you, Commander 503. I feel much better now. God bless, " said Lukas Tabuni, a local resident, expressing his deep appreciation for the care he received.

Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, Commanding General of HABEMA, lauded the efforts of the 503 Task Forces, saying, “Their initiative to bring medical care to this remote village reflects TNI’s deep commitment to improving the welfare of the people and supporting the acceleration of development in Papua.” His recognition not only celebrated the success of this mission but also highlighted its broader impact on the region’s progress, fostering hope and optimism for a more prosperous future.

The ongoing presence of the TNI and its dedication to both security and community welfare are vital to creating a stable, thriving Papua.
